About the U.S. Service Person Database
This is a non-commercial display to honor and remember the U.S Service Personnel who have been killed as a result of the illegal U.S. invasion and occupation of Iraq.
The original data for this list of U.S. Service Men and Women on this site was originally compiled by the U.S. Dept. of Defense as of March 1, 2008, and all data is in the public domain.
This database does may not contain Service Persons who have recently been killed or are yet to be officially identified. It also does not include the men and women who have taken their own lives or died outside of the "theater" of Iraq, of which the totals are much, much higher than the number of dead compiled here.
As you use and review the names on this website, please remember and give due honor to the as yet unidentified dead who are not in this list, and those that the U.S government does not officially recognize as dying as a direct result of the illegal U.S. invasion and occupation of Iraq.
For several years, concerned citizens and advocacy groups have drawn attention to the victims of the war in public readings and displays using compilations of U.S Service Personnel Names drawn from the DOD and other sources.
The DOD removes spaces, hyphens, and apostrophes from names. For example "Mc Donald" is spelled "MCDONALD" and "O'Neil" is spelled "ONEIL" in the database. We have not corrected these misspellings yet.
As you use and review the names on this website, please remember and give due honor to the as yet unidentified dead who are not in this list, and whose numbers far exceed the named or partially identified victims.
There is no organized effort to name all victims of the U.S occupation of Iraq. Only when all have been identified and duly recorded can there be any real discussion of respecting their memory.
To those who knew, love and miss these people, we offer our sincere condolences.
